It's coming. A report just came out today that explains when the San Andreas Fault is going to do a jig and what it's gonna mean for all us Californians. Thousands will die and tens of thousands will be seriously injured. They say it's likely to happen in our lifetime, 50/50 chance in the next 30 years.
So what are we doing here? I thought I was afraid of tornadoes. Hah! At least you get warnings when a tornado, hurricane or blizzard come. Stupid earthquakes are totally unpredictable. Preparedness in those events can really keep you alive. Having slippers and a flashlight by your bed in an earthquake doesn't really ensure your survival.
So I'm done. It's pushed me over the edge. Why subject ourselves to this inevitability? Let's just say the Big One came and something happened to one of us. I can't imagine going on knowing that we could have listened to the warnings and left, but we didn't.
Besides, what's really keeping us here?
