In other news, we have some Marriott certificates that are about to expire. Since it's hard to leave at a reasonable time on a Friday, we're just going to go overnight on Saturday. So we had to pick somewhere close, which actually isn't too hard to do - once you get out of LA there really are some nice places to visit. There's Coronado/San Diego, Orange county beach locations or the Palm Springs area. Our goal for this trip:
A) Get out of LA.
B) Sit by a big pool all day with attentive wait staff to bring us drinks/food.
C) Stay at a nice resort - no need to site see.
There is a very nice Renaissance in the Palm Springs area that meets our requirements. A couple years ago it made Condé Nast's Gold List, which is a good sign. And it's gonna be sunny and 90s this weekend in the desert - perfect pool weather.
A friend told me about this cool place to check out on our way to the desert - looks like fun. I can't wait for the weekend.
